The latest to join this trend is Visa and Robinsons Supermarket and Robinsons Department Store who’ve collaborated to provide contactless payment for its shoppers.
Visa card holders can easily purchase their items with just a tap of their card with no hassle of signing as long as purchases are under Php2000. When you’re always on the go and time is money shaving off those precious minutes is heaven sent.
Over 16 locations in the Philippines with 700 contactless terminals will be enabled for Visa credit card holders.
“Contactless payments in the Philippines are starting to take off and we have been working on expanding our contactless acceptance footprint in the Philippines. To date, we are seeing triple digit year-on-year growth in terms of contactless spend, and number of transactions in the country. With Robinsons coming on board as a key merchant partner, we believe more Filipinos will experience how fast, convenient and seamless contact payments are,” said Dan Wolbert, Visa Country Manager for the Philippines & Guam.
This kind of payment option will make it possible to have quicker and faster transactions. No more long queues! Pretty soon we will be a digital cashless society similar to developing countries like China where people no longer carry money.
I tried the Tap to Pay option and indeed it was quick transaction with just a tap. I didn’t have to sign for anything and the deed was done.
This is perfect for quick runs to the Robinsons Supermarket or Robinsons Department Store with purchases under Php2000. Since the average ticket size for contactless transactions is approximately Php1,700 more so than not the Tap to Pay option will bring daily convenience.
