Puzzled when playing a game of puzzles? Or simply amused by people who can solve a puzzle with ease? This is a game that challenges the brain on how it would be able to “fix” or put the pieces together in order to make it complete. There are people who are really good at it for they can do it effortlessly but there are also individuals who might find some difficulty in solving it.

Like other mind-boggling games, solving puzzles also has certain techniques or methods that you must be acquainted with so that you will be able to solve the puzzle and enjoy the game.

Set Up Your Workspace

When it requires a serious mental analysis such as studying, doing paper work and even solving a puzzle it must be done in an environment that is conducive for mental activity. Your mind will not be able to focus if you are surrounded by clutter or annoying noise.

Your environment is important for learning how to solve rubik’s cube or other complex puzzles.

Before you start with your endeavour in solving the puzzle, look for a quiet place that has an ambiance of freshness, neatness and most importantly it must be quiet. It should be a place that is  free from any distractions from your peers or from your family members. There should be a flat surface where you can lay down the different pieces of the puzzle in this way you will be able to focus on solving the pieces of the puzzle.

Sort out the Pieces

The game of puzzle is just like a detective trying to look for clues in solving the mystery of a case. In this game you should also handle solving the puzzle in a manner and way of an expert. That will connote that solving it must be done in efficient and much more manageable ways. You must adapt a sort of a system on how to effectively sort out the different pieces.

You may opt to have an organizational system wherein you sort out the pieces in accordance to its colors or patterns. Carefully study the picture on the box and look for its dominant features. Look out for the colors that are not part of the picture or part of the picture. You may flip the different pieces so that the right sides are facing upwards then try to select the pieces of which you think may be useful.

Put the Edge Pieces Together

The crucial part in solving the puzzle is the first or initial stage of solving it. The picture on the box must be your reference in identifying which are the pieces that may be part of corner pieces or edge pieces. Try to arrange all the corner pieces to make a big square. It is just laying the foundation or base for your puzzle.

The main goal in the initial stage is for you to shape the frame and it can be done by connecting all the edge pieces to form lines and arrange it near to the corner pieces. It is arranged in this way to have a simplified and easier way of solving the puzzle rather than solving it from the middle.

Take a Break

Solving the puzzle is not only mentally draining but it may also be physically exhausting. For it will take a longer time of solving it especially if you are sorting out around one thousand pieces. If you felt that your energy is already wearing out and draining then you must take a break. Do not stretch your energy for you may not be able to fully concentrate on the puzzle. An exhausted body and mind will not be effective in solving a puzzle.

Try to take a few minutes to relax, grab some food to munch or a book to read. In this way your brain is relaxed and its attention is diverted from the activity of solving the puzzle. You may close your eyes and have a power nap or you can have a brisk walk. Try to drink a lot of water to keep your body hydrated. A fully hydrated body can condition your mind to think deeply.

The few minutes break will surely freshen up your energy wherein you may opt to proceed to continue with your task in solving the puzzle. You must make sure that the place where you are solving the puzzle must be free from any distractions or from anybody that might mess up the different pieces.

Put the Center Pieces Together

Identify the different shapes such as the large shapes and the small shapes. Try to look for some unifying aspects or some long lines. Your goal in this step is for you to have the appropriate groupings of the different shapes that you can make use of in the later stage of solving the puzzle. Have a keen eye for the essential pieces, sometimes these pieces are hiding between others. If you think you can’t figure it out and you are already stuck in that area then move on to another section.

Finish Up

After you are able to group the different pieces into small sections you may now proceed in placing it in the “picture frame” that you have created by placing the edge pieces. The mainframe was your base or foundation of which you have created beforehand.

Try to visualize where to place the different clusters so that it will be in its proper place. You can move the clusters in the “frame”. Using the picture as your guide try to connect the clusters in order to complete the different areas. When all the pieces are being connected then your puzzle is complete. That will be the final stage in solving the puzzle of which you can already feel the sense of satisfaction in finally solving it.
