I grew up on American food, from hot dogs to spaghetti to burgers. Living in the states our menu was 50/50 with my mom also cooking Filipino dishes. Now having my own family, I also prepare a mix of American and Filipino dishes. Cooking doesn’t come naturally to me and my repartee of Filipino cuisine is very limited so when I got an invitation to try a variety of dishes from Hapag Heritage I eagerly took the chance.

Hapag Heritage offers traditional Filipino cuisine that’s both nostalgic and modern. Opening in the latter part of 2016, the homey restaurant is located along Maginhawa and has a charming ambiance with old fashioned furniture with scattered artistic accent pieces.

The family run restaurant is headed by Chef Julio who has continued their tradition of home cooking. The staff were very kind and despite my son’s naughtiness they were gracious enough to entertain him and his questions.
