There are some things that carry nostalgia and for me Welch’s 100% Grape Juice is one of them. That made the honor of being part of Welch’s: Share What’s Good special event in Ayala 30th Mall all the more gratifying.

The event was a re-introduction of sorts to the only real grape juice out in the market. Welch’s Grape Juice is made from 100% Concord grapes which are grown and harvested by about 1,000 family-farmer owners in vineyards found across the United States.

I was invited to share my experience as a loyal Welch’s Grape Juice drinker and give some parenting tips as well. I joined Dr. Gia Sison (giasison.com) who’s also a loyal user and a cancer survivor as a guest panelist at the event.

We shared about the challenges of raising kids today, our history with Welch’s, and how we both connect with our kids. I guess being a mom to 2 teens and a 7 year old I feel I have some parenting tips that I can provide that would hold weight because of the experience I’ve personally gained. I’d love to do more talks like these.

It was an easy and relaxing exchange with host Adi Amor and all caught on camera so if you’d like to watch what we talked about just check out the videos below.

A nutrition talk was given by Miss Ma. Paz Sales from the Nutritionists-Dietician Association of the Philippines or NDAP, the national organization of nutritionists who are the ones responsible to guide us on healthy eating and diets. It was helpful to know how Welch’s can play a role in our lifestyle and daily living.

What’s great about Welch’s is that because it’s pure fruit it’s healthy to drink everyday and even babies 6 months old and above can drink Welch’s Grape Juice.

The Food Pairing was a fun part of the program and Kianna who was there to support me enjoyed it. Chefs Peachy Mathay and Trisha Ocampo (CCA) created the following recipes: Banana Grape Smoothie, Berry Grape Crunch Muffins and Grape Salsa.

I had a try of the Berry Grape Crunch Muffins and they were good! The recipes can be found on Welch’s website.

One of the parenting tips I gave was to date your kids. I make sure to have individual dates with my kids so that we could have the time to talk and catch up. These dates are sacred times and the kids look forward to them. They don’t have to be fancy or expensive as long as there’s an opportunity to talk.

Dates with my eldest aren’t as frequent as I’d like them to be. I did however go out with him and his girlfriend where we celebrated her win on being President of their SHS Student Council. It had been planned for quite some time and he would always confirm with me that it was still on and thank me as well. I was touched by how important it was to him.

With Kianna we usually get coffee or frappes and she’ll open up about what’s been going on with her. She doesn’t open up easily and with her it’s always about finding the right moment. Our dates are a perfect time to do that.

For Jael, our dates consist of play and watching movies. It’s more important for him that I spend time with him playing and we do talk about things even at his young age of 7.

My “Taste Test” Experience

I was asked to be part of a taste test experiment and was intrigued by it. I joined my 2 fellow moms and friends, Joy and Lani as we discovered what real grape juice was.

It didn’t surprise me terribly to see the sugar content of the drinks that I had. I could tell right off the bat which was Welch’s as I’d grown accustomed to its taste. That’s not to say that Welch’s doesn’t have sugar because as we all well know fruits are sweet but they have natural sugar content making real fruit juice the best choice for our families.

The latest popular snack at home are these Welch’s Fruit Snacks. We pop them like there’s no tomorrow and the good thing about it is that it’s a healthy snack.
