With so many milks in the market, it can get confusing to know which one is best for your child. There are many types of milk out there but are they all the same? I finally got my answer at a media round table discussion that I attended recently.
Dr. Agnes Calleja MD, a pediatrician was able to shed some light on this and provided me with information that put my mind at ease.
What are the types of milk you may be asking? Well, there’s whole milk, skimmed milk powder, powdered milk, cream milk, and filled milk. Are they all the same? The answer is No. Each has a different amount of serving per minerals and nutrients.
This is where I learned that the milk that I’ve been giving Jael, Nido 5+ has been providing him with all the necessary minerals and nutrients plus probiotics and prebiotics.
Though our chosen milk gives us all these it should still be given hand in hand with nutritious food, exercise and a healthy lifestyle, immunization, and health counseling by trusted doctors and health practitioners.
Ms Tricia Turcuato discussed Nido’s evolvement and improvement through the years and they now have growing up milk that’s age specific. This helped me even more because I instantly knew which milk to give Jael. Children at different ages have different health requirements. Toddlers are focused more on brain development and have yet to develop immunological defenses needed to fend off diseases (thus the need for probiotics and prebiotics). 5+ kids are more focused on building healthy bones and Nido 5+ has included Calci-N just for this purpose. Both Nido 3+ and Nio 5+ contain Lactobacillus Protectus, millions of live good bacteria that helps build body defenses.
This was shared during the discussion and it really touched my heart:
“But this is a very crucial time for our toddlers.
Kids their age need things that are meant for them
You wouldn’t give clothes that are too big for them to wear;
Toys that he can’t have fun with,
or give him experiences he has yet to be prepared for.”
Sometimes, we rush and take short cuts but that shouldn’t be the case with our kids. I think it happens without us even noticing. This is something good to keep in mind. I want Jael to enjoy his childhood and learn at his own pace.
The Nido Growing Up Milks team who passionately displayed a genuine interest in our children’s growth. We were freely able to ask and discuss our concerns ranging from health to sports to school activities.
I’m a very happy mom because only Nido 5+ has been able to give Jael all that he needs. Another plus for me is that I don’t have any problems getting him to drink it unlike with other milks that we’ve tried. He even asks for his milk and when I give him choices of what to drink, more often than not he chooses NIDO 5+.
That’s why, to ensure that you are giving your child the right kind and amount of nutrients to support his/her overall growth and development, check the label and see the difference. With Nido 5+, I’m thankful I’ve found the right milk for Jael.

i think mom’s will always trust nido, generation after generation 🙂 its good milk!
My son was breastfed until a little before he turned three. After he weaned, he wouldn’t drink milk. Thanks to Nido 3+ though, we got him to take milk again!
My kids are getting picky with their milk. I have to put in scoops of Milo just to get them to drink it. Maybe I’ll give Nido a try to see if they’ll like it for what it is. 🙂
Informative! Though we’re not really very keen into introducing follow on milk after he self-weans because we’re following a different method. Possibly fresh milk as beverage. 🙂
What I like about Nido is it’s not overly sweet, my kids prefer fresh milk though so I haven’t gotten Nido in a while.
My three boys are feeling all grown up
now but I still give them milk before going to bed and another glass on breakfast. We only trust Nido.
I am still nursing my baby as he just turned 1 year old yesterday. But when I was still a kid, I remember that my follow on milk is Nido. It was so tasty and appealing to me. I loved Nido. And I am considering it as my LO’s follow on milk when he’s on toddler or tot stage already. That is… If I am no longer nursing him and my breastfeeding journey has already ended.
I also grew up drinking Nido and is considering buying this for my future kid. Thanks for this testimonial. This will be a good argument in case my husband prefers another brand. Haha
The son is currently breastfed but I’ll take note of Nido once he weans. We’ve been Nido drinkers as well when we were kids.
We’re thinking og switching milk already since Charley refuses to drink na. Will try Nido, hope she likes it. 🙂
It’s a good thing that you’re not having a hard time giving milk to your kid. My eldest is not really into drinking milk, which I know is not a good thing. I do try to offer fresh milk to her whenever possible.
None of my kids are into drinking milk anymore but when they were younger they drank Nido for some time too. 🙂
To be honest, powdered milk is not anymore a staple in my 4-year old’s diet. However, I can consider Nido because of its benefits!
We haven’t tried Nido yet but I think I’ll consider Nido once we decided to switch milk.
I’m careful i choosing milk for my kids, especially for my eldest. She is lactose intolerant kasi. I haven’t tried Nido though for her.
