Every once in a while in your life, you may find that you’re in need of live entertainment. It can be for a great range of reasons.
Maybe you’re throwing a party, tribute, or corporate event and need to book a musical act. Or maybe you are a musician yourself, working on going from “new” to “up and coming,” and you’re looking to meet and interact with others who are on that same path.
No matter your reasoning, if you need local musicians, it might seem a bit opaque as to where to find them. After all, you know they’re out there, but you can’t just tell who’s a musician and who’s not.
Here are some ideas to jog your brain if you need to find some cool musical acts in your area.
Attend Open Mics
If you need to locate musicians, what better place is there but an open-mic night at your local club? These are regular events that are meant specifically for musicians and other performers to gather together and listen to each other’s performances.
Open-mic nights are also places that foster community. You can see people’s musical offerings and then talk to them afterward, finding out what you have in common as far as musical influences and visions for the future. Of course, if you’re looking to hire one of these musicians, these are good places to approach people, as well!
Go on Talent-Booking Apps
Next up, you can certainly try the multitude of talent-booking apps that are available online now. These are essentially broker sites. They are places where musicians and other talented performers go to fill out profiles and be advertised to people just like you, people looking to hire them for their events.
You might come across these sites when you search “entertainment near me” on Google. The results you’ll find will present who is available based on your specifications, and usually, the musicians will be willing to travel some distance to perform for you.
Of course, remember that if you’re looking for local musicians, you can filter results for locations so you’re finding artists in your specific area.
Search on Social Media
Lastly, don’t forget you can make good use of social media in your search for local musicians. Jump on Instagram, Twitter, or Facebook, and make it known that you have a project or event coming up and need some live entertainment.
Describe what sort of genre you’re looking for, and then you can vet the acts that apply. You can even take auditions online, as well! Zoom and live videos have made it so easy to interact with people even around the world these days, so take advantage!
Once you find your local musicians for your event, be sure to thank them for reaching out to your invitations and doing their best. Ideally, your show should go off without any issues. Keep these musicians in mind for the future, in case you ever find yourself in a similar position again!
