As an office manager or small business owner, you have a lot to protect. You have many hats to wear, from cloud services and servers to alarm systems and physically to protect your employees. One of the most important aspects of office management is implementing and maintaining an emergency-ready fire safety preparedness program. But, even if you have experience doing so, there are only so many fire safety tasks you can handle on your own before you call in a professional.
There are a few fire safety tasks that you can handle on your own with others in your office. There are many resources available to help you create a fire prevention plan and a training program for your employees to practice and use during a fire emergency. This program must follow local, state, and national standards. Include such information as to how fires can be prevented, what to do in the case of fire, all emergency procedures, define all fire escapes, and create a fire safety employee or team of employees.
You can also inspect your fire protection systems in the workplace, but only with the right resources and framework for a fire inspection. With such resources, you may be able to inspect utility and fire protection equipment, fire sprinkler and suppression systems, fire extinguishers, and fire emergency training programs. Workplace fire safety training should be set in place to ensure that your office, business, or employees have the best information and resources for fire preparedness and prevention.
While there are plenty of resources to create fire prevention plans and training courses, without fire protection companies, it will feel like unattended guesswork. When you work with a fire protection company, you work with a licensed fire protection technician trained and experienced in fire protection measures. They will retain comprehensive records for at least one year and produce these records whenever necessary. In addition, a fire protection professional provides fire sprinklers and suppression systems, water storage tanks, fire alarm monitoring, kitchen hood suppression systems, and other critical aspects of fire prevention and protection systems.
Fire protection companies can also work with your employees to create a training program for fire prevention and protection. Although you may feel comfortable in your DIY fire protection plan, a professional can come in and make sure that this plan is entirely safe. You do not have the same training or experience as someone licensed as a fire protection professional, which is a critical resource in creating emergency planning. They can also provide reliable resources such as fire alarm monitoring that works for your office, rather than you choosing something based on others’ reviews.
When creating a fire prevention and protection plan for your office, it is often best to seek out a professional. You may have experience in the area and even DIY some aspects of an emergency plan. However, without the input of a fire protection professional, your fire protection plan remains incomplete.
