When you are in college, you end up moving a lot. You probably will move often right after you graduate college while you are trying to find a job and a place to settle. This article contains a moving checklist when you need college moving tips.
When you are moving into your college dorm, there are some items you should consider before moving to your dorm. About two months before your move, you want to confirm your move-in date with your school or landlord, depending on your moving situation. There may be strict procedures for moving in. You need to decide if you need a moving company, or if you are going to move yourself. If you plan to use a professional moving company, you want to research the company, make a selection, and reserve the company. It is important that you know the layout of the places where you are moving so you can plan accordingly for your needs. You can decide what furniture you may need.
When you have a month before your move, that is the time to purge items. You do not want to pack everything you have, especially if you are moving into a dorm room. You have to make decisions about what to take and what to leave behind, store, donate, or throw away. You want to make sure that you have all your packing needs, including tape, boxes, markers, and bubble wrap.
When you have about two weeks before your move, you want to start boxing up anything you will not need to use before your move. You do not want to go grocery shopping anymore, unless there is someone to stay behind. You do not want a large amount of extra food. When you have a week before your move, it is time to pack for real. You should label all boxes and keep an inventory of all the items in each box. You want a box or bag of essential items. This will include anything you would need for a long weekend, including snacks and water. These are all the items you will want to find your first night in your new space. These are the items you cannot be without. You can label the boxes with a number that indicates the priority with which you want to unpack them. For example, sheets are a higher priority than pictures. On moving day, make sure you have some water and snacks set aside. You want to make sure you have power cords and power strips in case you need them. Scan all the rooms one last time to make sure you did not leave anything behind.
