It’s that time of year again where parents are in a frenzy and we’re needing to shop for everything and anything school related! Though this year it’ll only be Jael going back this June since my teens are back to school in August. In my many years of back to school shopping I’ve learned ways to save, ways to make sure we get everything we need and ways to entice the kids to go back to school. Back to School is serious business so be prepared for a lengthy post BUT I can promise that it’ll be a helpful and hopefully entertaining one.
Easy Shopping at a National Book Store Near You!
National Book Store seems to always make things easy for us parents, don’t you think? They come up with these bundles and packs and even have them sorted by grade that you just need to pick one up to have the basics that your child needs. Budget wise this is helpful and sanity wise sometimes it’s just necessary especially if you do your shopping a little late and are thrown in the throngs of other parents doing last minute shopping. Sometimes, I’m guilty as charged!
Back to school shopping means bags and bags of shopping so I usually go to the nearest National Book Store branch in my area and for me this is their Fairview Terraces store. Aside from the adequate supplies and the airy set up, I’m comfortable letting Jael go around the aisles by himself because the set up in this branch is very family friendly with low shelves, spacious aisles and the toys and games section is at the opposite corner of the entrance. This makes my shopping more at ease for me.
They have a school zone also to make your shopping experience smoother so you can find everything you need all in one place. Make sure to go around the school zone so you can take advantage of the bundles and promos. I can even shop for uniforms and shoes if I needed to. The shoes are Easy Soft, school shoes made of rubber which seems perfect for those going to school in June with the rainy season coming along and all.
Affordable Shopping with Promos and Bundles
Education and all that comes with it is one of the most expensive parts of being a parent. Speaking for myself, most of my income goes to education meaning tuition, school supplies, baon, uniforms, books, extracurricular activities, etc. That’s why I try to save where I can. Promos and bundles are one good way of saving.
Another way to go is to purchase Best Buy items that are infinitely more affordable than the other brands. For pad paper, art paper, typewriting paper and small supplies like paper clips, rubber bands and the like I choose Best Buy for affordability.
Currently, National Book Store has a promo wherein you can buy this handy backpack (Php100) and lunch bag (Php75) with every P300 single-receipt transaction with any participating “N” sticker item. There are also three other color combinations to choose from so it’ll be perfect for your child’s personality and mood. This promo runs in all branches nationwide until July 14, 2019.
Here’s some more “Shop and Save” items to check out as well.
Shopping Tips
For the most part I go for the “savings” factor but when it comes to items like pencil cases, highlighters and pens I let them choose what they want as it seems to make a difference in their mood. Jael gets excited having a character pencil case like this that I got him for only Php179.75. Kianna adores highlighters and she always wants them in pastels so I got these Janina Highlighters for only Php165.
You might notice that there’s a convenient Back to School Checklist in the branches. Always, always bring your own list BUT check it against this list in case you might have missed something.
Attend the Grand Back to School Fair for Even More Deals and Discounts!
The Grand Back to School Fair is always worth going to. What I do is attend this, get the bundles and promos that are only being offered at the sale then head to Fairview Terraces to shop for the rest of the items.
It’s a 3 day activity with plenty of workshops and activities to do. There’s calligrapgy, watercolor, painting and so much more. Just check out the schedule below.
The fair also offers shoppers a chance to win up to P10,000 worth of raffle prizes! You can get an entry when you have your raffle coupon stamped for free at all of the booths, and for every Php100 single-receipt purchase at the venue.
See you at the Glorietta 2 Activity Center, Palm Drive from May 24 to 26, 2019. Admission is FREE. Learn more and RSVP here: bit.ly/grandbtsfair2019.
Always Support a Cause
When we can, we donate a Project Aral kit. This initiative helps thousands of school children across the country get the basic supplies they need to be able to go to school.
These kits are available in the Back to School Zone and you can choose between the Php30 pack which has 2 notebooks, 2 pencils, an eraser, and a sharpener, or the Php60 pack for the same contents + a pair of slippers! Go for the Php60 pack guys!
Here’s me wishing you an easy, affordable and fun back to school shopping experience at the National Book Store Grand Back to School Fair and a store near you! Happy Shopping!
