It made me reminiscent of the child I once was when I saw that there was going to be an art fair in my part of town. Art fairs are usually in the South like Makati or Taguig so I was very pleased to hear that the UnarthodoxPH Art Fair would be held at Miriam College for a whole weekend in partnership with ArtisteSPace, Inc.
I used to dabble in drawing myself. Nothing spectacular but I liked to sketch and tried my hand at watercolor even. I liked anything that had to do with arts and crafts from paper folding to even sewing bean bags in different shapes. I’ve left that side of me untapped for many years now and it was nice to revisit her once again and show her the art of today.
The 3 day art fair from January 31 to February 2, featured both professional and amateur artists with exhibits of over one hundred pieces proudly displayed on the grounds of Miriam College. There were also seminars and workshops facilitated by well known artists.
I was able to attend the Watercolor workshop facilitated by Mr. Lexter Victorio. An engaging artist not short on praise with his aspiring and eager students for that day’s workshop, he drew inspiration from a dress I was wearing that day. I was pleased to see the different flowers adapted from my pink dress onto their canvas’. I even got to keep Mr. Victorio’s watercolor painting of it.
I love how what looks like seemingly easy and effortless strokes turns into something beautiful like this.
I also popped into a Paper cutting class conducted by Paper Cutting Philippines President, Mr. Babz Magsumbol. With just a few folds, snips and cuts you get amazing paper creations like flowers and the like.
Other seminars and workshops included Calligraphy, Portraiture, Digital Film, Digital Art Production, Jewelry Making, Fashion, Design Thinking and Creative Process, Latte Art, Origami Making, Rubber Stamp Making, 3D Printing and more.
There was some many diverse and inspiring works of art on display at the exhibit. I was able to tour about half way through and appreciate the various mediums used and also meet some of the artists themselves.
Featured artists of the different art forms were Philip Badon and wife Thelma Badon, Glenn Blanco, doctor artist Ronnie Lim, Ral Arrogante, Alex De Castro, Caress Banzon, Norlie Meiban, Boysie Villacencio, and the Association of Foot and Mouth Painters of the Philippines Member Jovy Sasutona.
