Costume parties are so much fun! Yes, I’m only just experiencing this and I’ve been missing out! I’ve helped Kianna with her costumes for school when she’s had programs and dances. To actually dress up for one was great. I needed an 80’s costume for our Mommy Bloggers Philippines Christmas Party and initially I had wanted to dress as bad girl Sandy from Grease. I loved the idea of an all leather look but being on a budget the thought of having to purchase a leather jacket and pants was going to cost me too much.

So I decided on Alex Owens from Flashdance. Her costume is iconic and so easy to put together.

  • gray off shoulder sweater
  • black leg warmers
  • black heels

I’m a bit on the conservative side so I couldn’t just wear the gray sweater so I paired it with black cycling shorts.

I think I was able to rock my look because of my make up by The Beauty Avenue by Mhaan. I had done a boudoir and portrait session right before. With a made up face and curly hair I transformed into Alex Owens.

One of the most memorable scenes from Flashdance for me was the bra scene where she casually removes her black bra while talking to the leading man. It was so casual and so sexy.

I have to admit, ever since I lost the weight I’ve felt more and more confident and comfortable in my new skin.

I have become so confident that I walked the “red carpet” having been chosen as one of the best dressed during our Christmas party. Thinking about it now I could have executed it much better but I’m just proud of myself to have done it at all!

One of my wishes is to attend more events and parties and experience fun things. Hopefully there’s another costume party!
