The system does not guarantee entry to the United States after approval. ESTA is for visitors coming to the US for tourism and business. To apply, a visitor submits his contact information, recent employment information, valid passport from his home country and valid credit card to pay the $14 application fee.
What is a VWP Country?
The Visa Waiver Program (VWP) is an immigration program of the United States Government which allows citizens of 38 VWP countries access to the United States. Visitors from VWP countries are only allowed into the program for ninety (90) days. Such visits are either for business or tourism and will expire after 90 days. The idea of the VWP program is to allow citizens of VWP countries entrance to the United States for a specific period without a visa.
