Sometimes vanity can be harmful if we aim for too much. Physical improvement shouldn’t be for anyone else’s benefit but our own. Some may consider teeth whitening as a vain attempt at beauty but our teeth is actually one of the parts of our body that can brighten and improve how we look and even our outlook. Kianna had been asking me about a teeth whitening procedure and I decided to give her the opportunity to try it out. She had her teeth whitened while Bastian and Jael had a checkup and cleaning done at our visit to Affinity Dental Clinics.

The procedure took a few hours to complete but the improvement was evident. It was a bit of a painful process which Kianna endured as much as she could. The process involves levels of whitening up to what the patient’s tolerance can endure. She was able to endure up to 2 1/2 levels in the process. One session can have up to 3 attempts of whitening depending on the pain tolerance.

Kianna had her own thoughts on her experience:

  • doctor was nice and accommodating
  • after a month she just experienced “nangingilo” when drinking cold water
  • she would do it again
  • feels the process and time was worth it
  • made her confident

Do’s and Don’ts After Whitening

  • Avoid any colored food for the first 24-48 hours
  • White and clear food are advised
  • Stay away from: tomato based food | chocolates | dark green vegetables | curry based food
  • Avoid keeping up with habits such as
  • Smoking
  • Drinking: Coffee | Tea | Wine
  • Some degree of sensitivity is normal. This can be relieved by:
  • Taking pain relievers
  • Use of a topical gel (Tooth Mousse)
  • Use of toothpaste for sensitive teeth
  • Avoid the use of colored mouthwash
  • Teeth may return to their natural color after a few months depending on your habits

Her doctor, Dr Kristina Robles is a graduate of the University of the East College of Dentistry practicing Periodontics and Dental Impantology “gum specialist”. She trained under one of America’s leading cosmetic dentist and TMJ specialist, Dr James Sagawa and her family owns a dental laboratory (exposed to wide range of dental work).
