Shopping can be rewarding especially if you know that what you’ve made a well-spent purchase is for a greater cause. Crate and Barrel, together with Cribs Foundation Inc., hosted a Shopping Day for a Cause at their SM Makati store on April 18, 2018.

Crate and Barrel shoppers enjoyed a special 20% off on all regular priced items from 10AM-10PM on April 18. Crate and Barrel gave back a part of the proceeds to the projects and efforts of Cribs Foundation Inc., a non-profit organization in the Philippines, providing a loving and safe environment for the abandoned, neglected, surrendered babies and minor female minor survivors of sexual abuse.

As I walked through the elegant Crate and Barrel store in SM Makati, I mentally placed all the pieces of furniture in my home. I have always loved the warmth and sophistication of their furniture pieces.

Crate and Barrel is also upholding a greater responsibility in encouraging inspiring conversations among their shoppers through Crate Conversations. First launched last February 28, 2018, the intimate, open mic talk aims to spark a dialogue between the speaker and the guests, to create a moving, dynamic, conversation.

The second leg of Crate Conversations featured an empowered woman who is both a yoga and wellness advocate. Marilen Elizalde shared some of her fitness wisdom and the importance of having a balanced lifestyle. Her talent, and eye for design, coupled by her passion for humanitarian efforts, makes her the perfect person to spark a great conversation.

As someone also going through her own wellness journey, I was interested in her perspective of  her fitness journey. The takeaway I got is that you are in control of your own wellness. It does take plenty of determination and self love to continue on.
