So I roused the kids early on a Monday morning to have a family breakfast and take advantage of the free Longgadesal McDonalds was so generously giving out. A yearly initiative, McDonalds has a #NationalBreakfastDay wherein they give a free meal item to all customers.
On March 19, McDonald’s celebrated its 6th National Breakfast Day by giving out free Longgadesal sandwiches from 7 to 8 am in close to 500 McDonald’s stores nationwide. We chose to dine at their newly opened Belfast Novaliches branch.
The Longgadesal— McDonald’s newest breakfast offering— is a delicious take on the traditional freshly-baked pandesal combined with another Filipino breakfast favorite, longganisa. Customers during National Breakfast Day were treated to the savory, beefy, longganisa patty topped with a sweet, creamy sauce, sandwiched between a soft pandesal bun, for free!
McDonald’s also surprised its customers with celebrities who helped distribute the free Longgadesal – namely McDonald’s Ambassadors, Atom Araullo, Alden Richards, Maine Mendoza, Gabbi Garcia, Ruru Madrid, Mayday Entrata, Gabby Concepcion, Tony Labrusca, Donny and Hannah Pangilinan as well as GMA Artists, Rocco Nacino, and Jason Abalos.
It’s a pretty rare occasion to get all three of these guys together in the mornings so I was so happy that we finally had a family breakfast. We love going to their Belfast branch as it’s 24 hours and also has a McCafe. I can’t help but order a Cinnamon Bun every time I visit.
The teens had a pretty hefty appetite and ordered 2 breakfasts meals each plus a Cafe Latte from McCafe. They topped it off with a free Longgadesal.
Aside from giving out free Longgadesal sandwiches in participating stores nationwide, McDonald’s also extended the celebration to Filipinos in Albay who were displaced during the eruption of Mt. Mayon and Marawi for the evacuees who fled their homes due to the siege. Thousands of free Longgadesal sandwiches were given out to the evacuees to help brighten up their day.
“National Breakfast Day has always been about giving our customers a meaningful breakfast experience, shares Kenneth S. Yang, McDonald’s Philippines President and Chief Executive Officer, “This year, we’re happy that aside from our customers, we were able to extend this breakfast celebration to our fellow countrymen in Albay and Marawi.”

Wow, it has long been my dream to experience this since McDonald has always this kind of event every year. I actually heard about this one cause of my friends posted this online, but I was in the Hotel that early morning and the Hotel serves breakfast. Anyway, you guys seemed to have really enjoyed the family breakfast with a free longgadesal. I truly salute Mcdonald for owning this kind of event, they are so generous, and even extended it to those that are affected during the eruption of Mt. Mayon and the war in Marawi City.
Thanks for sharing this great dining McD experience. Wow! New menu however it doesn’t serve here in my country. Am actually McD fan esp the McD happy meals toy collection (your country also served kids’ happy meal?) Hope I get to enjoy this new menu soon too. Cheers, siennylovesdrawing
Yup, it does! In fact my son just got a Justice League toy from his Happy Meal today!
Does the longgadesal taste exactly like longganisa? 🙂 So sad that I wasn’t around to partake in their free offering because we were too busy with work. So lucky that you were able to meet all those celebrities! I should try out this longgadesal soon to find out if it can be my new favorite.
Yes, it does! 🙂
