Ever since I can remember I’ve wanted to make a gingerbread house. I remember as a young girl I made one in school and I thought to myself, I’ll make this every Christmas. Well, jump to many many years later and I’ve finally been able to make one again. I set out to make it a fun Christmas activity for Jael and I.
My main concern was how to make the icing. I know you need powdered sugar and I just couldn’t seem to get my hands on some. I devised a plan to use KremStix. So you’ll understand our resulting gingerbread house.
My takeaway from this is A. gingerbread house making is not as easy as it seems, 2. I really need to get my hands on powdered sugar next time! and 3. what’s most important is that Jael and I had so much fun laughing and making it that though it’s not a Pinterest worthy house it’s one that we enjoyed making!
We chose to use graham crackers, nips, Kit Kat bars, marshmallows and our favorite gummy candy, Vita Cubes. Since we had so much sweetness we wanted to have some healthy candies and Vita Cubes fit the bill.
Vita Cubes come in 2 pack sizes, one with 5 different flavors per pack and the other individually wrapped. It comes in strawberry, apple, grape, orange and mango containing vitamins and minerals. With a daily pack your child will have the energy they need and keep healthy all the while enjoying the flavors.
You can see how happy Jael was that we were able to get the house standing. He put all those marshmallows and with every handful he put on the roof he ate a handful!
Our gingerbread house looks quite simple. It turns out it’s difficult to get those crackers to stand. Next year, we’ll be better prepared!
