Ajinomoto shared it’s best day ever with the media recently. Why was it the best day ever? Well, for one there was the launch of the AjiPanda™ which is now in the Philippines and second Kathryn Bernardo has officially renewed her contract to be AJI-NO-MOTO® Umami Seasoning’s brand ambassador once again.
The AjiPanda™ is a representation of the ever-reliable way of bringing out the natural deliciousness of food through AJI-NO-MOTO® Umami Seasoning. The AjiPanda™ fills the role of ‘Your Best Friend in the Kitchen’ being a happy, caring and loyal companion as you cook meals for your loved ones.
Before the contract signing we first learned about about umami and monosodium glutamate. Dr. Frances Tan, a medical doctor with specialization in General Pediatrics, and a subspecialty in Allergy and Immunology, was invited to impart basic facts about umami and monosodium glutamate.
She explained that umami is the 5th basic taste that allows people to enjoy that delicious taste in food. The source of this umami taste is glutamate and glutamate is a non-essential amino acid that naturally occurs in food like tomatoes and cheeses which can be found in salt form through monosodium glutamate. Examples of umami rich food are onions, mushrooms, poultry, pork, and beef.
The big question about MSG has been “Is it safe?” The latest studies have shown that it is safe also discrediting research saying otherwise. An interesting fact is that glutamate can be found in breastmilk, breastmilk which is the best milk for kids so that has to say something about its safety.
The thing about MSG is that there are some people that are sensitive to it which may be mistaken for being unsafe. The FDA in the US and UN WHO deems it safe to take and digest.
Ms. Kathryn Bernardo graced the event for her contract renewal as brand endorser of AJI-NO-MOTO®. According to Kathryn, she finds cooking for her family very rewarding. Mr. Masato Wada, Board of Director for Marketing, Sales and Public Relations joined her in the contract signing.
Ajinomoto carries many brands that you know and love some of which are Crispy Fry, Tasty Boy and Aji Ginisa.
There are many recipes that are delicious on its own but AJI-NO-MOTO® enriches the flavor. The recommended serving of AJI-NO-MOTO® Umami seasoning is 1/4 teaspoon per pound of meat.
The Umami Culinary Challenge will be happening in January 2016 so watch out for more details on that!
