Adam Richman continues his culinary adventures in TLC’s brand new series, MAN FINDS FOOD. He embarks on a new quest to uncover the most unexpected and delicious treasures in towns across the U.S. Discover some truly surprising must-eats that only those in-the-know would be able to find in MAN FINDS FOOD, premiering June 8 at 9:30 PM on TLC.

From a Thai joint in Los Angeles that serves a spicy off-menu burger he can only describe as “life-changing”, to one of the best Pakistani restaurants in Milwaukee hidden in an unassuming office building, Adam takes viewers all over the U.S. as he samples the country’s amazing food creations. These tantalising treasures are sometimes found in towns not known for that particular dish – or for food in general.

Occasionally nestled in locations that are nearly impossible to find, Adam and his crew will hunt down and reveal these classified creations one by one. In Chinatown, he learns about a sandwich so secret you need to be one of the first five to order it. In a neighbourhood known as Kaimuki, he sees how a once-illegal Hawaiian food is specially prepared by pounding it with a pestle. And he makes some mouthwatering finds in the randomest of places, such as a bowling alley – that happens to serve full-broiled chicken, which Adam has proclaimed as his favourite.

Along the way, Adam talks to the creators of these dishes and connects with the locals to find out about their favourite food joints and what other scrumptious secrets the towns might be harbouring.
Tune in as each episode builds up to reveal the most outlandish, delicious, off-the-menu creations.

Here’s a short interview with main man, Adam Richaman on his new show.

What makes the show different from other food or travel TV productions?

There’s not been one show that’s about hidden restaurants and often new dishes.

I’ve seen occasionally something that might be thrown into another food show but never something that’s exclusively about restaurants that are completely obscured. Most of the places are hidden in terms of they’re not marked fine dining but they’re beloved local gems.

So people say, they’re hidden gems because they’re perhaps off the beaten path but these Man Finds Food are the places that even the locals themselves don’t know about and these are hidden dishes that even those have been coming to these restaurants for years don’t know about.

So, I mean, the show in terms of its subject matter, there hasn’t been one like it and also the format you know we break the fourth wall, you see the crew, you see us interact, you see us you know having those journeys and having banter amongst ourselves and having fun together and trying the food. And it is really something very fresh and in my opinion, it’s the best food and travel show I’ve ever done.

You’ve travelled around America for Man Finds Food. Can you share your most remarkable finds?

My gosh, I don’t know if I could call anyone find more remarkable than any others. I mean, I think that’s kind of what makes them so special. I mean, as I said, I think whether it’s finding a restaurant in someone’s home or finding a secret dish that you need to whisper a password to your server to get, I mean, things like that really stand up.

I think that even things like sandwiches where they only make five a day then they’re off the menu on a restaurant in Chicago for example, I mean, I think it is so cool that in this day and age where everybody wants everything and they want it right now that there is still restaurant to care to go the extra mile to do something that’s a little off the beaten path that’s a little bit original. So I have to say it’s not one find that Man Finds Food that I didn’t really find truly extraordinary.

In the show, you are up to finding unexpected the tastiest and rarest food treasures, can you tell us the process on how you and your crew select choose each spots to visit?

It’s really, I mean, we all work together and some I knew about just from my own travels and they were in my food journals. Some other chef told me about because I know chefs around the country.

Sometimes I call a produce purveyor or a rancher that I knew in the area who might have some insight information and I also have two really great associate producers who are absolute ninjas with research and they just come aware of the blogs and everything and have found some really remarkable things.

And also I’m very blessed that I have two really amazing associate producers that are really absolutely brilliant thorough researchers and it was really a terrific crew and I really hope to get to hit the road again.

Do you find it harder to maintain your lighter weight and stay fit than it was losing the weight in the first place both while shooting for the show?

Actually, while shooting the show, it’s not so difficult because my days are so regimented. It’s when I’m not shooting that I find it difficult because then you have time to sample, to eat, to drowse, to go to a market, to go to a farmers market.

So when I’m filming, we’re filming for 12 hours, 14 hours a day and as such it’s either we have very clearly designated breaks, I know when I’m leaving on camera so I can calculate those calories. So filming actually gives my life a really blessed structure. When I don’t have that structure, I find it more difficult.
