I’m always on the look out for new places to try. As much as possible when my family and I go out we make sure to dine at places worth the time and money. Be it a fancy restaurant or hole in the wall if the food is delicious and the service is great we’ll be sure to make another trip back.
I’m looking forward to bringing them to Cabecera Garden Resto and Bar located in Don Antonio Heights along Commonwealth Ave. It’s a bit hidden but their menu is definitely worth a revisit with the family.
Owned by Ms Genevieve Gamilla and daughter Regine, this Filipino restaurant offers your traditional dishes but with unique menu items. If you’re a little bit adventurous then this place is for you. They open from 2pm-2am and have Happy Hour from 4pm-8pm where you can get 10% off beers.
Their restaurant is an open area and they also have a function hall for private events. Function rooms have a capacity for events with up to 150pax.
If you want a relaxing meal in a simple al fresco type setting this is a good place to try.
Entertainment is also provided some nights.
Nachos
Nachos are always a good way to start the meal. The chips are crispy and enough filling and cheese for the chips are provided.
Fresh Potato Chips
The potato chips aren’t exactly fresh (fresh to me meaning more crispy than chewy) but they’re a good treat and start as well.
Pancit Canton
A big Filipino favorite and usual merienda, the Pancit Canton was what you would expect. The vegetables crisp enough and the toppings plenty.
Yangchow Rice
I can never resist Yangchow Rice even the oiliest kind. This could have used just a bit more flavor to it but their serving is well worth it.
Baked Bangus
New to the menu, I gave this Baked Bangus a try and really liked it. Ordinarily, I’m not a fish person outside the home but this is something I’d order for myself. I know Oliver would love to give try it.
Torta de Crongejo
Bouillabaisse Soup
This was my first time to try this soup. I’d been hearing about it and was pleased to learn I’d finally get to try it. I wasn’t blown over about it but the soup was savory.
Tapang Kabayo
Sorry guys, you know I’m not the adventurous type. I didn’t try this particular dish, I mean I was imagining Black Beauty and all so… The people I was with said it was good though. 🙂
Flaming Chicken
Probably my favorite out of all the dishes I tried. I got to watch as the chicken was flamed and then the vegetables poured onto the sizzling plate. Bastian and Kianna would love this dish.
Crispy Pata
I was so at odds on whether to eat this or not. As you probably know, my gallbladder was removed and it was because of culprits like this dish. However, I did try it and yes gave into the temptation of eating the fatty part. I couldn’t help it! It was too tempting.
Overall, you get bang for your buck at Cabecera Garden Resto and Bar.
