You might have guessed that I’m a big fan of TV. I’m following a few shows right now and I’m always on the look out for interesting story lines so an invite to the House of Cards Season 3 premiere of the first 2 episodes was an exciting opportunity.
First off I’m a huge fan of Kevin Spacey’s ability to take on all sorts of characters. I loved him in The Usual Suspects, I cried for him in The Life of David Gale and was just plain in awe of him in K Pax.
RTL CBS which carries the House of Cards and many more amazing shows treated us to a fine afternoon of first class food and drinks from Bizu. It was a very intimate affair and it was so much fun because I was with my friends from Mommy Blogger Philippines, Tweenselmom and Joy Gurtiza. I also got to meet up with a couple of mommy bloggers and meet a fellow blogger.
Admittedly, I had not had the chance to watch the first 2 seasons but after watching the very impactful first 2 episodes of Season 3 I already have it on my to do list to catch up on the series. Luckily, they are playing re-runs on the RTL CBS channel on Feb 28 and Mar 1.
A fun screening experience with friends, Joy, Reign, me (!), Sky, Lani and Lariza. Sky sent Mommy Bloggers Philippines the exclusive invite and it’s been great collaborating with her. Excited for more screenings especially from RTL CBS!
The highlight of the event for me apart from the exclusive screening itself was interviewing Jonas Engwall, CEO of RTL CBS. Though I hadn’t watched all the episodes of the previous season I did do some research into it and had a few questions to ask. (Thanks to my good friend Joy for “encouraging” me to do the interview.)
Some of the questions I had were about what to expect from the House of Cards Season 3 as President Frank Underwood had already seemed to get his ultimate dream, the official seat at the White House. Jonas shared that there were many things to expect especially the fact that President Underwood had not been voted in but was a placeholder for the presidential position. Obviously the story line will keep us on the edge of our seats. Watching the first 2 episodes of the 3rd season definitely did for me.
Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright have both won awards for their roles in the show and watching them I can see why. Their cold calculating yet exacting portrayals have you rooting yet wandering about them.
Another proud fact that Jonas shared is that they are the only channel to give us exclusive first run content straight from the US right after it’s showing. There are some channels that offer that for specific high rating shows but this is the first time for a channel to do it for all their shows. It’s definitely a nice feeling to know you’re up to speed on your entertainment.
RTL CBS has a great mix of shows from dramas to comedies. Some of their series are The Odd Couple, Under the Dome, Elementary, NCIS: Los Angeles, and Scorpion which I really like. They also have exclusive rights to awards shows such as the People Magazine Awards, the Billboard Music Awards, the Golden Globe Awards and many more.
Enjoy a weekend watchathon of the House of Cards on Feb 28 starting at 4pm and on Mar 1 starting at 9am. Check your local cable operator for the channels. Catch the encore on Mar 1, Sunday starting from 9:20am (8:20am JKT/BKK).

Love watching premieres with the group. Love Robin and Kevin in here. I’m still struggling watching the first season. The topic is sooo deep I think I need to concentrate when I watch it.
Another must watch on my list! 🙂
You mommies seem to have a great time right there. I’m not sure if House of Cards is one that would appeal to me though but I’m pretty sure my partner will love it.
