How exciting is it to be featured in a magazine? I finally got the answer when I found myself in a Working Mom magazine feature! Kitty Elicay producer of Working Mom magazine sent me an unexpected email which I was beyond thrilled to receive. At first my reaction was huh? I couldn’t believe that I was being approached to be featured in a magazine and Working Mom magazine no less!

It happened that Kitty came across my blog post ‘Best Online Shops in the Philippines’. At the time she was researching on Savvy Shopping Moms. I was featured alongside Jane Kingsu-Cheng and Erica Paredes who were the Bargain Hunter and Thrift Expert, respectively.

We scheduled a date for the ‘photo shoot’. In my mind, I was thinking that it would be one person coming to my home to take a few pictures and do a short interview. I had no idea that it was much bigger than that. It made the experience all the more exciting!

We scheduled for very late October and I was surprised to find that they were a team of 5. It turns out that there was Kitty, the photographer, the well known Stanley Ong and his assistant and a makeup and hair stylist. To prove that I was clueless I actually went to our neighborhood salon to tame my wild hair. On the phone to Kitty on my way home I found out that there was hair and make up! Believe me, I started to get a clue!

My home is very modest and when I say modest I mean small since we live in a condo unit. Luckily, it wasn’t too hot and they were very nice to work with.

Getting my make up done by Julie Ferrer. A real pro and I felt completely and totally relaxed. I also loved the way I looked!

Hair by Ken Azuela. Since I had gotten my hair ironed he just touched it up a bit and gave it some volume.

It was quite busy and cramped with the lighting equipment but no complaints here!

Stanley Ong was the photographer for my photo shoot and what’s funny is he was also the photographer for Kianna‘s photo shoot when she was featured in Trinoma’s in-house magazine, Vibe. I was admittedly nervous but he quickly put me at ease and I knew I was in good hands.

I love my look here! It looks natural with just the right amount of makeup. Thank you Julie!

Of course, I had a photo taken with them as a remembrance. You can see how cramped it was!

Stanley with Kianna pointing out the photo he took of her for her photo shoot.

Couldn’t resist taking a photo with Stanley and Kianna. Rare occurrence to have shot mother and daughter on 2 totally separate occasions!

I hope you can get a copy of the Dec-Jan issue of Working Mom magazine. It also has plenty of helpful features for the holiday season.

A sneak peek of my feature! I’m on page 58!

Thank you to Working Mom magazine especially to Kitty Elicay, Stanley Ong, Julie Ferrer and Ken Azuela.
