Nowadays children are exposed to all sorts of information and with the surge of digital information it’s been hard for me to filter and control what they do and do not see. That being said, keeping an open line of communication is the best way to ensure that you’re somewhat informed of what they’re watching and reading.
Lately, I’ve been troubled by the magazines out there that have been seemingly promoting lax lifestyles and focusing on being a certain social ideal. I was thrilled to get a copy of Meg Magazine for Kianna to read. Before giving it to her I went through it first and I’m happy to see that the content doesn’t focus on topics that would put me off as a parent.
Kianna was thrilled to get the magazine. She’s always on the lookout for tips on make up and clothing.
She enjoyed the Lazy Daisy section where there are suggestions of clothes you can mix and match.
She also likes to read up on other young girls and is particularly interested in what kinds of jobs they have.
As a parent I love that they feature achievements from young talented girls that will hopefully have my daughter aspiring for more than just a pretty face. Right now, Kianna is thinking of becoming an obstetrician and we try to encourage and help her with her goal.
Of the magazines available out there, I really appreciate the effort that Meg Magazine has put in to focusing on topics that are right for young girls. It’s a good mix of fashion, beauty and youthful features.

It’s nice knowing that there are magazines like Meg focusing on the right topics. I’ve seen some magazines from the local stands talking more about sex, having boyfriends and lavish lifestyles. But Meg is different. It’s more like a more matured magazine but still for teens.
