Once October hits I’m truly feeling the holiday season and for me that starts with Halloween! I’m still a kid at heart when it comes to this particular holiday. I love the idea of the kids dressing up and going trick or treating. I was so looking forward to Fairview Terraces Halloween event and it didn’t disappoint!
Their first ever Halloween event was packed with goodies, overflowing with fun activities and chilling experiences. Unlike other mall events that I’ve attended this was quite organized. The event started at 2 pm and people who were eligible to join lined up to get their loot bag, a list of stores that were participating in the trick or treat and a pass for entry to the activity area.
It was truly a trick or treating activity as kids went from store to store to collect their treats. Some stores had opened their trick or treating to all the kids that would visit while some stores only gave treats to children that had the list. I think the only flaw that I saw was that some stores were not better prepared and had very limited treats. I distinctly remember the stores that made an effort to have treats for the kids.
At 4pm the activity center opened and there was food, drinks and activities for the kids.
Baskin Robbins
Baskin Robbins offered 2 flavors to choose from being Rum Raisin and Green Tea. Jael chose Green Tea and he really liked it because he finished it! Most of the time he’ll eat about half but he really liked the flavor that he got. I’m really excited for Baskin Robbiuns to open. We’re going to try all their flavors!
Jamba Juice
Next we lined up for some Jamba Juice. They were very organized and prepared having drinks ready to serve. I believe we got their Classic Banana Berry Smoothie. My mom enjoyed this drink. Jael was too busy with his ice cream!
Krispy Kreme
Krispy Kreme was giving away their Halloween donuts and they had someone interesting manning the area… I was really surprised to see Predator and at first I was thinking why Predator then I realize it’s Halloween! Why wouldn’t he be here!
Jael was really fascinated with the life like Predator. The costume was very intricate and realistic. I thought Jael would be scared but he even took pictures with him.
There were three activities but we only tried one. Jael liked the Cupcake Decorating activity. He was very serious while creating his design then he gobbled it up right after!
There was an activity by Cuts for Tots where they put glitter streaks in the children’s hair. I decided not to go for that because Oliver has a thing about glitter. He doesn’t like the fact that it might get into Jael’s eyes which I agree with.
I let him take a ride instead in the car that they had.
I also decided not to let Jael participate in this activity because his skin is quite sensitive. There were plenty of kids though that lined up for this.
The mall was full of kids in costumes and I took a few shots of the interesting ones. The creativity was abundant with DIY costumes.
At 6pm there was a spooky surprise at the Central Garden. We were caught off guard as we were walking when we saw zombies in the crowd.
When we got home we surveyed the goodies and there was quite a lot! We even found some gems in there like Kit Kat, Butterfinger and Nestle Crunch bars.
It was a tiring day but very worth it to see the joy and happiness on Jael’s face. I’m so excited for next year and will definitely block out the date for their Halloween event.
