Our Vigan trip was so eventful with a stay at the Metro Vigan Inn, a feast at Metro Vigan Cafe and a kalesa tour.
Before we headed back to Manila we stopped by Vigan’s Baluarte Zoo. It’s a must see for all those who visit Vigan as it’s the infamous zoo owned by Governor Chavit Singson.
The 80 hectare zoo, being privately owned is a natural habitat for various animals.
Baluarte has 3 main attractions, the Butterfly Garden, Petting Zoo, and a Live Animal Show. We were pressed for time though so we weren’t able to catch the Live Animal Show. Instead, we toured the Baluarte Zoo grounds.
They have souvenir shops both inside and outside the zoo where you can make some Vigan pasalubong purchases.
Some of the animals are also free to pet and you can take pictures with them like Oliver did.
I was fascinated with these geese who’s heads were tucked in to their wings. Oliver told me this is how they slept.
Baluarte also has dinosaur replicas and they make for great picture opportunities.
One of the most awaited animals to see is the Siberian Bengal Tiger.

My kids enjoyed our trip to Baluarte Zoo in our last trip to Vigan also. Although I find condition of some of the animals pitiful.

Hi, thanks for sharing your post! Yes, I did find the condition of the tiger’s cage a bit forlorn.
