  4. Hi, I just came from PGH today and heard my doctor say “service case” twice. I injured my knee and 2 ortho surgeons have recommended surgery, price quote ranging also from 100-200k. I have HMO but the remaining balance is only 60k ( because I was initially confined after my accident), and any amount in excess of 60k will come from my pocket. Or , I can wait until January 2016 for my knee operation, when our HmO will “replenish” the full amount of 100k. My main goal is to be well as soon as possible so I can get back to my work, since I have been on SL for a month now! So postponing my operation to January is not an option. So I asked around on where to find the most affordable operation expenses. Lucky me, our churchmate has an ortho surgeon son in PGH, so we went there today and explained my case. He explained how the individual fees like machine rentals, PF and the like will be significantly reduced for “service cases”. A rough estimate of about 80k was given, Philhealth discount not yet included. So of course I was so happy to hear that, and now I am just waiting for the schedule of surgery.
The doctor never explained about GS3 though. So I wanted to ask you more about this. The doctor mentioned something about service cases are required to be confined for about 4 days. Is this true in your case?
    Looking forwardto hear from you.

    • Hi Lea, I’m not sure if service cases and GS3 serices are one and the same. It may be. The services cases I heard about at PGH were the ones where patients only had to pay for medicine but endured very long lines and waiting times. Since you’ve been quoted an amount like that it may be the GS3. I didn’t have a minimum stay at the hospital though but I did stay 3 days and 2 nights. Hope this helps!
