Universal Robina Corporation’s (URC) chocolate brand, Jack ‘n Jill Chooey, collaborated with the Animation Council of the Philippines, Inc. (ACPI) to launch a special film-making competition. This will be part of Animahenasyon 2016 – an annual Filipino animation festival that will be held on November 22-26, 2016 at the Samsung Hall, SM Aura, Taguig City.

The competition challenges student animators from all over the Philippines to produce a story concept for a 2-3 minute animated film. The concept should latch on the brand’s Chooey Wowow World campaign which aims to encourage kids to enjoy creative and imaginative play in a fun and playful world of chocolate goodness.

The Jack ‘n Jill Chooey Wowoworld Animated Short Film contest challenges aspiring film makers to share their fun and creative stories through animated films that feature Buboy and friends – the characters in Jack ‘n Jill Chooey’s TV commerical.

Aside from taking inspiration from the campaign, the animated short film should also feature Buboy and friends. They are the fun characters in Jack ‘n Jill Chooey’s animated TV commercial about kids’ play adventures while they’re enjoying the chocolate’s chewy and delicious flavours in  Choco—chewy butterscotch caramel coated in rich chocolate, and Toffee—chewy butter toffee coated in rich chocolate.

URC and ACPI will choose ten (10) outstanding animated short film concepts for the final round. The finalists will receive funds which they can use to render their ideas to actual animated films and they will have the privilege to be mentored by renowned practitioners in the film animation industry.

A total of five awards will be given to the top animated short films. Winners can receive as much as Php100,000 cash prize and represent their school with pride.

To know more about the competition details, visit www.animahenasyon.com or Jack n’ Jill Treats’ Facebook page at www.facebook.com/JacknJillTreats. You may also email secretariat@animationcouncil.org or call (+632) 817-2727 local 108 or (+632) 516-9888 local 10018.

YouTube Kids Comes to the Philippines

Posted on

YouTube has finally launched YouTube Kids in the Philippines! An app built with parents and children in mind that makes it easier for kids to find videos on topics they want to explore.

Since YouTube Kids launched in over 14 countries, it’s been downloaded tens of millions of times by families who rate it among the top five kids apps available. We’re pleased to bring it to families in the Philippines today, and it’s now available to download for free on Google Play (https://goo.gl/Dl1ZJE) and the App Store (https://goo.gl/pPTdLt). Built from the ground up with little ones in mind, the free Kids app makes it easy for children to find videos on topics they want to explore.

Here are some of the key features:

Bright and playful design

With larger images and bold icons, YouTube Kids is fast and simple for little thumbs to navigate with a built in voice search so that even if your child can’t spell or type, they can still find videos they’d like to watch.

Family-focused content

The YouTube Kids app is a more family-friendly version of YouTube where kids can explore their imagination and curiosity. They can browse channels and playlists in four categories: Shows, Music, Learning and Explore. Search for videos from National Geographic Kids, Thomas and Friends, Wallace and Gromit, and Reading Rainbow.

Parental controls

When parents open YouTube Kids, they learn upfront how systems choose and recommend content and how to flag videos. Videos available are as much as possible family-friendly but if you ever find a video you’re concerned about you can flag it.

Don Anderson, Head of Kids and Learning Partnerships, YouTube Asia Pacific, said, “As a father of two young children, I’ve had first-hand exposure to the power of video and how it can enrich a child’s life, whether it is through listening to nursery rhymes, or accessing math and science content, or a host of other topics that entertain and engage. YouTube Kids is our first step in re-imagining YouTube for families, an experience that gives you a world of video in your pockets, and a world of possibility and knowledge at your fingertips. We’re excited to see how YouTube Kids will better help your family explore, learn, and sing along.”
