International Buffet Cuisine at Latitude Hotel Jen Manila

Posted on

Since I’ve been watching my weight I’ve had to drastically cut down on food and eat smaller portions. So far it’s been working for me as I have lost some weight. I HAD to break this though when we had brunch at Latitude during my Mother’s Day staycation at Hotel Jen Manila. I’m pretty good at controlling myself from overeating now but I just had to give in. One look at the buffet spread and I told myself it’s Cheat Day.

Latitude is open day and night and offers a wide variety of Asian and international buffet selections. Brunch is served at 11am and runs until 2:30pm. You can also bring the kids and they can play in the Kids Zone in the lobby while you relax and dine at the restaurant.

Easter Cupcake Decorating at Vanilla Cafe

Posted on

This year, Jael and I spent Easter at Vanilla Cafe Trinoma for an Easter Cupcake Decorating activity. Vanilla Cafe is one of the prettiest places I’ve seen. The pastels, cute decor and candied smell of sweets from cupcakes to cake slices overwhelms the senses and my eyes!

I told Jael all about the activity and he was excited to decorate his very own cupcake. It was Vanilla Cafe’s first event and the accommodating and cheerful staff were looking forward to it as well.

Like all Vanilla Cafe branches, Trinoma has a well decorated restaurant. The dainty set up was too pretty for words.

The Easter Cupcake Decorating event included a toque, apron, DIY cupcake kit that included a cupcake, piping bags filled with assorted frosting, assorted toppers with 1 Easter Sunday topper and a Kiddie Meal (spaghetti bolognese, fried chicken and 1 glass of juice). For Php599, that was definitely a steal.

As we were waiting for it to start I just had to capture the prettiness around me. I could tell that it was a well though out concept with details and personal touches here and there.

Jael was a bit under the weather but he was looking forward to creating his design. He looked so adorable in his blue toque and apron.

Jael got to work on his cupcake decorating skills garnishing with sprinkles and choosing from cute Easter themed toppers.

The final result! Jael couldn’t resist eating some of the toppings especially the gummy bears.

Other kids also had a fun time decorating their cupcakes.

Vanilla Cafe Food Choices

Bacon Carbonara (Php248)

Each bite was heaven for me. Pasta being my most favorite food topped with bits of bacon was delicious with every bite. Jael tried it and I told him that it was so good. He said the sweetest thing! “I like your pasta better mom.” <3

Kiddie Meal

Crunchy fried chicken and spaghetti bolognese is the perfect kiddie meal combo.

Naughty Nutella Frappe (Php128)

The Nutella frappe had the distinct Nutella flavor but it also had a coffee flavor. I had ordered this for Jael but he found it too strong for his tastebuds so I gladly drank it.

A Valentines First

Posted on

This is the first Valentines I spent separated. It was only on this holiday that I realized the gravity of my decision. Not that I’m regretting it or having second thoughts, it was just a realization that I am alone. When I say alone, I mean romantically alone. I know I have my children, family and friends. This is the usual line I get when I even mention that I’m alone or depressed or sad. Well meaning friends but all the same a brush off of some sort.

What should I be complaining about right? I have 3 beautiful kids. I have a great job and I’m able to support my kids financially or I try my best to.

The thing is being lonely is real. You will always look for a partner or a companion. It’s the natural way of thinking.

I try not to dwell on it too much but I think my circumstance is just a tiny bit unique in that I built a wall so high that even I have a hard time tearing it down. I must seem aloof, hard to talk to or just plain uninteresting. The right answer to all of this is that I just need to give myself time. I guess.

It’s so odd that it was only when I found myself single again that I’m more open to people but have so limited means to actually get to know more people. I know, I know what a conundrum!

So I may be “alone” but I’m hanging in there. Hoping there’s more and giving importance to the only people that matter most to me, my children.

After all this, you can imagine that my Valentines was a bit depressing. Until, that is I received a care package from Robinsons Selections that had some of my favorite chocolates. Second to receiving gifts from my kids, it was the highlight of my day.

In a perfect world, I’d be one of the many people I saw on my Facebook wall being gifted by their significant other with a bouquet of flowers or stacks of chocolates. Just a couple of years back I was one of those people but not everything that glitters is gold.

As you can see, I’ve shared way too much of myself. Sandwiched in between my product features, events and reviews are posts like this. This is where I can float what ever I want out there and not have to seriously think about who is reading this and what they would think. If I have reached you somehow and you’d love a share, please feel free to comment or message me. <3
