Milo Summer Sports Clinics: Programs and Schedules

Posted on

The summer is upon us and with that are the many sports activities children can join, the most well known being the Milo Summer Sports Clinics. We were thrilled to be invited to the media launch and my little boy had such a great day!

We found ourselves at  Alphaland City Club (in Makati) which is also offering Milo Summer Sports Clinic programs. These sports clinics have so many benefits from teaching the basics of sports to promoting an active and healthy lifestyle.

With Milo Activ-Go, kids will have the winning energy they need to participate in the sport of their choice. My little guy loves Milo and drinks at least 1 glass a day.

A Karatedo demonstration was part of the presentation and Jael was in awe even mimicking the moves he saw. This year there are three (3) new sports, Golf (GOLFMIX Philippines), Fencing (Philippine Fencing Association), and Triathlon (Triathlon Association of the Philippines).

From April to May the Milo Summer Sports Clinics will be offering a healthy summer experience full of fun and excitement from expert coaches of respected sporting organizations. These programs give kids an opportunity to gain new friends while acquiring character building traits such as confidence, discipline, diligence, perseverance, respect, teamwork and sportsmanship.

Jael got to try 7 of the 17 sports being offered. Here’s a sneak peek at what he learned and you’ll see just how much fun he had.

Learn with the Toddler Buribox from Adarna

Posted on

As a work at home mom it’s a challenge to balance family, work and home duties. I don’t have as much time as I’d like to prepare my youngest who’ll be starting school this year and the answer to this is a curated box of educational activities and arts and crafts. Adarna has released the Buribox and we tried the Toddler BuriBox.

The activities are designed to develop literacy, critical thinking, creativity, socio-emotional make-up, and gross and fine motor skills.

Jael was excited to receive a BuriBox and even more excited to try the activities.

Included in are selected storybooks from the library of Adarna House, activities and art materials, and board books. It also includes poster paint, crayons, and molding clay.

It has Filipino context and is made especially for Filipino children but ninety percent of the stories are in two languages. Each book, activity, and material has been carefully curated by experienced and expert educators and product developers.

There are two boxes to choose from, the Toddler and Young Reader BuriBox. For Jael I chose the Toddler box.

Recommended age: 3-5 years old
4-5 New preschool books every month
Multiple activities/worksheets and art materials every months

Here are some of the activities we did. The planned activities make it much easier for moms like me. With a set of instructions and ideas we had plenty of fun.

Why I Let My Son Attend a Sneak Out in Caliraya

Posted on

My eldest son recently attended a sneak out in Caliraya Laguna. Was I hesitant at first? Yes, I was. This sneak out conducted by his school would entail him being away for 2 full days and sleeping overnight.

A sneak out is a spiritual recollection usually held during a senior’s year in school. I asked Bastian if he wanted to go and he did. Since he had skipped on his field trip we decided to let him attend.

Since Bastian has a cellphone, I was expecting to have communication but he sent me a text letting me know that he wouldn’t be able to text or call because they would be having a series of talks and their gadgets would be with the teachers from that period on.

I think the best thing that came out of that situation for me personally was when Bastian shared about what had happened and told me that he realized how well adjusted he was in his life. Apparently, there was a part in the day when they all started sharing about their parents. He was confused when his classmates started crying and he was okay. He saw then how his classmates were struggling at home connecting with their parents and he saw in his own life how we had a pretty good relationship.

I was really touched about this above all else. I’m glad that in the 15 years that we’ve been bringing him up that he knows that we’re here for him no matter how hard or how angry we sometimes get.

On the second day they enjoyed the features that Caliraya Resort Club had to offer. This Earth Ball game is part of the teambuilding activites that they had.

He enjoyed plenty on this Slip N’Slide (Mud Slide) and came home with a once white t shirt and muddied shorts. He had plenty of fun and that’s what matters.

A little introspection and time away has done Bastian good. It also helped me further teach Bastian about independence and importance of family.

Thank you to Bastian’s teacher for the photos!
