Packing up your whole life for a new home can prove to be quite challenging. If you have moved before, you should have fresh memories of the thrills, stress, and frustrations of moving. Moving is stressful for many for good reasons. The process requires tedious work, careful planning and demands a herculean effort. Moving all the furniture in your old home to your new place in one piece can seem to be an impossible task. Of course, you will need to pack your stuff too. And, what about the paperwork?

You will also have to ensure that your new place is ready and safe to house your family members. Therefore, you will need to install security systems in your new home too. After all, you won’t be familiar with your new home, neighbors, or the society.

But, who says that moving should be difficult? Moving is only as difficult as you want it to be. If you are stressed about moving, it easy with these 3 tips.

Tip 1: Try to keep relevant items together

When you pack your items, keep relevant items together. For instance, keep the bookends with books, the extension cords with the appliances, and the light bulbs with the lamps etc. You can even attach the loose parts, screws, bolts, nuts, washers, to the item they belong to. If you have larger items such as cable TV cord, TV remote, gaming controllers, you can place them in resealable bags and tape them to the underside or back of the item. Or, you can basically use a box, label it ¨Parts Box¨, and fill it with cords, parts, brackets, pieces, and nails etc. However, do ensure that you mark the box well.

Tip 2: Get professional help or ask your friends and family for favors

Of course, it is entirely possible for you to hire the services of a professional moving company to move your stuff. However, if you are looking for a cheaper alternative, you can easily rent a truck and get your friends and family members to help you move. Basically, you need to assess your situation properly and only hire out tasks that require professional help. Of course, you must be able to afford the services too.

Tip 3: Change your address

The importance of changing your address when you move to a new place should be a priority. If you want your important mail to be forwarded to your new address, you should let the postal service know when you move. Fortunately, you don’t need to physically visit the local post office to change your address; you can easily get it changed online. All you need to do is to visit the site, USPS.com/move, submit your credit/debit card details, your valid email address and address change. You will then receive an email confirmation of the change.
