Bread in Pinoy history has a significant place, at times being a go-to breakfast option with our one of a kind pandesal. More and more the appreciation for bread in our country has become evident in the various bakeries and pastry shops pooping up in the metro. With Max’s Corner Bakery, they’ve upped the ante by creating their very own bread baking competition to discover new bread creations.

The bread baking competition aptly titled, Tinapay Natin is on it’s 2nd year. Though were a culture strong on rice, bread makes its way to our tables not only at breakfast but also during merienda. Ensaimadas, rolls and the like are both filling and delicious satisfying many a craving.

Last year’s winners, Roy Tabacolde and Greegy Cabarrubias created 3 unique bread recipes that will now be part of Max’s Corner Bakery. Take a look at their 3 winning recipes.

Cream Cheese Ensaimada

Caramel Sesame Roll

Cagayan de Oro Pastel

Bread enthusiasts and aspiring bakers have a chance at joining the Tinapay Natin competition Year 2. This year’s competition headed by Max’s Corner Bakery and Pilmico vows to be bigger, better and more exclusive.

The competition will not only be open to culinary students but also to passionate home bakers. What makes this competition unique is that the recipes are only part of the winning factor. The individual stories of the bread entries will also come into play.

“We are a country who has had a long history of enjoying bread. Even in Max’s Corner Bakery and Max’s Restaurant, the first meal we offered was friend chicken with dinner rolls. It is our hope then that through this competition, our young participants will be able to share the unique story of their bread creations. We want to know the inspiration, the struggles, and the hard work put into making it,” shares Ariel P. Fermin, Chief Operatiing Officer of Max’s Corner Bakery and Max’s Restaurant.

The most compelling bread stories and entries will have a chance at winning cash prizes and their creations at Max’s Corner Bakery. Tinapay Natin Year 2 will run from July to October 2017 with regional bake-offs happening in Baguio, Bacolod, and Davao.

The winning bread will be awarded during the Grand Finals in Metro Manila in November. Please visit the competition Mechanics for more details.
