After seeing Tweenselmom’s post about a free 1 year subscription for iFlix to PLDT subcribers I’ve been taking advantage and watching plenty of movies! I especially enjoy their line up of Romance movies so it’s only fitting that I share my top Valentines movies for hopefuls.

Why movies for hopefuls? Well, at this point in my life where I’m leaning towards never ever again believing in love I’d like to think that it’s still a possible concept. So if you’re like me and alone on Valentines here are a few worthy suggestions to pass the time and continue hoping.

The #KwentongJollibee series further solidified my belief in love especially with their video “The Vow”.

Serendipity

On a magical night when they are in in their 20s, Jonathan (John Cusack) meets Sara (Kate Beckinsale). He finds it love at first sight, but Sara believes in destiny. After 10 years the two — with 3,000 miles between them — must decide if fate wants them to be together again. When love feels like magic, it is called destiny; when destiny has a sense of humor, it is serendipity.

Takeaway: If it’s meant to be it will be. I believe things happen at the right time and when they should happen.

She’s Out of My League

Kirk is your average nice guy — he’s working a dead-end job, his ex hangs out at his parents’ house with her new guy, he’s out of shape, and he drives a piece of junk. So when he meets Molly — a smart, kind, and gorgeous blonde bombshell — he’s convinced that she will not fall for him. Come on, she’s a solid 10 and he’s maybe a 5 at the most… there’s no way this would work. Right?

Takeaway: Never underestimate your worth. For those who have experienced heartbreak and been cheated on it’s hard not to have your ego and self esteem take a hit. A sincere person will love you for who you are.

Sweet Home Alabama

Meet Melanie Carmichael, the next ‘It’ fashion designer in New York and just very recently engaged to the city’s most eligible bachelor. This is all well and exciting, but she’s got family down south she needs to inform about her impending nuptials, ESPECIALLY her husband who refuses to sign the divorce papers. With no other way around it, she takes a trip back home to Alabama where she discovers that everything she’s ever wanted was already there.

Takeaway: Choose the one you love. Settling for anything less is unacceptable. Love is hard enough as it is, if you can’t pour your whole heart into it then it just won’t work.

The Lake House

A lonely doctor (Sandra Bullock), who once lived in a beautiful lakeside home, falls in love via letters with its latest resident, a frustrated architect (Keanu Reeves). When they discover that they are living two years apart, the pair must unravel the mystery behind their incredible romance.

Takeaway: Just as with Serendipity, love will come and consummate at the right time. You have to believe and sometimes leave it to chance.

Never Been Kissed

Many people wish they could go back to high school, knowing what they know as an adult; Josie Geller gets the chance to do just that in the comedy Never Been Kissed. Josie (played by Drew Barrymore) is a 25-year-old copy editor at a newspaper in Chicago. But it’s her youthful looks as much as her journalistic skills that finally win her a writing assignment: she’s ordered to enroll in high school posing as a teenager for a story on the state of America’s youth. Trouble is, Josie was a hopeless nerd in high school (called “Josie Grossie” by her classmates); she had no idea of how to fit in with the cool kids, and she’s hardly gotten any better at it in the seven years since graduation. While Josie makes fast friends with a bookish girl named Aldys (Leelee Sobieski), and also takes notice of her good-looking English teacher Mr. Coulson (Michael Vartan), she realizes for the sake of her story she has to infiltrate the cool girls’ clique, which will be impossible without someone to give her a crash course in hipness.

Takeaway: Someone will “see” you and like you and love you. You don’t have to change who you are to find someone to love you.

Say Anything

In a charming, critically acclaimed tale of first love, Lloyd (John Cusack), an eternal optimist, seeks to capture the heart of Diane (Ione Skye), an unattainable high-school beauty and straight-A student. It surprises just about everyone when she returns the sentiment. But Diane’s overly possessive, divorced father (John Mahoney) doesn’t approve and it will take more than the power of love to conquer all.

Takeaway: Young love can be real love. Find a guy willing to stand outside your house playing a song that will make your heart ache.
