How do we make the right choices for our children? Well, there are many ways. We get help from family, advice from friends and learning and researching about what the best options are.
Our lives are made easier with products that provide labels for us to read and check. Whether it be food, clothing or your child’s milk these labels give us the information we need.
In support of this, NIDO® 3+ launched #CheckTheLabel, an educational campaign to encourage moms to read and have a better understanding of food labels, so they can make smarter and healthier choices for their child. By checking the label, moms can verify nutritional claims, compare brands, and choose which one offers the best value for money.
Developed by the best of Nestlé Research, NIDO® 3+ is the only milk brand with Lactobacillus PROTECTUS®, millions and millions of live good bacteria that maintain the balance of good and bad bacteria in the gut, which in turn help strengthen the immune system. This unique probiotic can be found in every glass of NIDO® 3+ along with other essential nutrients such as: Prebio® 3, indigestible fibers that serve as food for good bacteria to grow and survive; DHA, ALA, LA and Taurine to support proper brain structure; and high levels of vitamins A, D, Calcium and Zinc to support overall growth and development.
All of this information can readily be found on the box. Now all this information seems like an overload or mumbo jumbo but I learned that these labels and findings serve a purpose the most important of which to better inform consumers like us.
Ms Delamar Arias hosted the workshop and just like us she’s also a curious mommy and always looks for the best products for her children.
The workshop started off with Dr Celeste Gomez who discussed about Probiotics and how this helps our bodies and more importantly what it can do for our kids. You’re probably familiar with Probiotics because Nido milk contains this “good bacteria”.
Fun Fact: Did you know that pickles, yogurt, kimchi, sauerkraut, kombucha, tempeh and kefir contain probiotics?
Next Ms Arlene Tan Bantoto- Ciuntry Business Manager for Nestle Infant Nutrition shared Nestle’s desire to make moms aware of the #CheckTheLabel campaign.
Ms. Ditas Sagarbarria- Nutrition Adviser for Nestle Infant Nutrition shared many interesting facts that I’d love to pass on to you.
Those food labels that we see are carefully and meticulously prepared by a large team to ensure that we moms have a safe and beneficial product for our families.
Fun Fact: It was interesting to learn that the first ingredient listed on any product contains the largest quantity while the last ingredient contains the least.
Now when you check your labels and compare you can see which product has the right amount you’re looking for. If you see sugar first then you’ll know that that particular product is full of sugar and less healthy ingredients.
This piece of information particularly helps those who are watching their sugar intake, cholesterol or salt content.
We also miss considering serving sizes. From this alone and a pretty easy way to gauge your calorie intake is to consider how much each suggested serving has of nutritional content. You may notice you can get the same serving sizes for certain products but a vast difference in nutritional value.
A perfect example of complete food labels are Nido products. As you can see they have information for you to consider. They indicate the age range for the product.
Their “Good to Know” label straightaway highlights what is unique about Nido. They also provide a helpful tip of giving healthy snacks to our kids.
A legitimate product will always provide contact information so consumers can share concerns or feedback.
An important part of a label is the how to prepare the product because this shows you exactly how much to use in making it to guarantee maximum benefit.
Nido has evolved over the years into a growing up milk with a line of products that are age specific making it that much easier to know which is best for our child. Ms Patricia Turcuato- Lead Consumer Marketing Manager shared Nido’s evolution and how the #CheckTheLabel campaign has been helping moms make the right choices.
Lending her voice and support to the campaign is proud NIDO® 3+ mommy, Sarah Lahbati. Having experienced the same challenge when it was time for her to choose a growing-up milk for Zion when he turned three, the first-time mom learned that the best way for her to make a decision was to do research herself and check the labels on her options. And by precisely checking the label, Sarah Lahbati is assured that she made the right choice with NIDO® 3+.
Being moms, we had tons of questions about the #CheckTheLabel campaign.
Everyone will have opinions on what will be best for your child. So how do you really know what is best? Simple—#CheckMoMuna, #CheckTheLabel!
