For the longest time I’ve been wanting to bake. I remember the cakes, pies, cookies and cupcakes my mom used to make and it makes my mouth water. I was thrilled to try the Simple Touch convection oven and I wasn’t the only one. Kianna who had her hand at baking in school also had a few recipes in mind.
Simple Touch has a range of appliances and is a home brand of S&R which is the biggest warehouse membership shopping chain in the Philippines. Their official distributor is UniGlobalLifestyle. Unboxing the Simple Touch Convection Oven was reminiscent of Christmas mornings unwrapping gifts!
This convection oven in particular is a halogen oven. Convection ovens and Halogen ovens both circulate heat produced cooking the food evenly. However, halogen ovens generate heat with halogen light bulbs while convection ovens use the same heating elements of traditional ovens.
Halogen ovens also require less time to cook compared to convection ovens saving on power.
The use of the Simple Touch halogen oven is pretty straightforward. You only have a timer and thermostat to contend with. There’s even a thaw/wash function which you can use to thaw meat and poultry and to wash the pot.
Tip: Make sure to read your thermostat correctly. Convert the Fahrenheit to Celsius when needed.
When you start cooking the green and red buttons should light up. The halogen oven will then light up periodically during the cooking process. Make sure to keep this away from little ones and anything that can get affected by heat.
We’ve already used the Simple Touch Convection Oven a few times and everything went fairly well. For a newbie at baking, I’m surprised we didn’t burn anything!
Who knew there were affordable and tasty brownies within reach. I thought it was either a complicated process or an expensive mix that I’d have to face but Maya Brownies was super easy to make.
Chocolate Chip Cookies
Tip: You can make 2 batches when cooking by using the included grills. You just need to have 2 cooking pans.
The cookies were crunchy and chewy at the same time!
Lemon Pepper Roasted Chicken
Since we had our try at desserts I decided to give the all time favorite chicken roast a try. I used our baking pan and covered it with foil so that the oil and juice droppings would catch there. I dribbled the chicken and potatoes with olive oil so it wouldn’t dry out.
It came out alright! I think for better results the chicken should marinate at least overnight. I only marinated it for several hours. Also for a whole chicken 1 hour and 20 minutes is the recommended heat. There’s a small booklet included in the box which also gives you a guideline for suggested baking times and heat.
